Croque Monsieur

Hoy fue día de cocinar! Y de la nada, se me antojó aprender a hacer algo que no había hecho nunca, pero que vi en una película y me pareció delicioso.

Croque Monsieur.

Ese emparedado francés famoso, tan fácil de hacer y que puede llegar a ser o bien un aperitivo o una comida completa con una ensalada. Básicamente, un emparedado de  jamón y queso a la plancha. Yo usoejamón de ternera y queso mozarrella, aunque la receta original es con jamón York y queso Emmental, pero cualquier queso que se derrita se puede utilizar. También se agrega salsa bechamel, que básicamente se aplica a la porción de pan base del emparedado y luego procedes a formarlo. Yo primero lo hice a la plancha y luego agregue queso encima y lo puso al horno hasta que quedo doradito y crujiente. Una gran opción para los amantes del queso. Como yo.

La verdad, me quedo rico.

Y como lo prometido es deuda, ayer fui a ver "Los juegos del hambre" que está 100% recomendable. Muy apegada al libro. Lo suficiente para que todos entienda, y para satisfacer a los que hemos leído el libro. No me aburrió, dura el tiempo exacto para ser interesante sin aburrir. Y los actores, realmente al clavo.

Today was cooking day! And out of nowhere, I craved something that I never done before but I saw on a movie and that I had to learn to do from scratch, something really delicious.

Croque Monsieur.

That famous french sandwich, so easy to do and that can become either a quick snack or a complete meal with a salad. Basically a ham and grilled cheese sandwich. I use veal ham and mozarrella cheese, although the original recipe is with York ham and emmental cheese, any cheese that melt can be used. You also use bechamel sauce, which basically you apply to the base slice of the sandwich and the proceded to form it. You can add cheese on top and put it in the over until is golden and crispy. Really easy and really tasty. Great option for the cheese lovers. Like me.

Honestly, it turns out really good.

And as promised, yesterday I watched "The hunger games" which I totally recommend. Remained true to the book. Enough for everyone to understand and enough to satisfied those who have read the book. Was not boring, it's the right length. And the actors, truly the best for each character.

Libro 2/Book 2

Ayer terminé "Los juegos del hambre" y como debo una reseña escrita al fake father, Jason! 

Pero les contaré lo que no me gusta de comprar libros. Usualmente, me gusta leer historias compuestas por 2,3 o más libros. Por lo tanto, la mayoría de mis libros son partes de trilogías, sagas o series.

Y, como podrán imaginar, me gusta tener mis libros completos. TODOS los libros que componen dicha historias.

¿Y cuál es mi más grande frustración? Que por la falta de lectura en mi país, los ejemplares son pocos, en el mejor de los casos. De lo contrario, no hay ejemplares. Y menos para mi que gozo de la lectura en inglés.

Por lo tanto terminé ayer el libro 1 de "Los juegos del hambre", pero no tengo el libro 2 porque sus seguramente no mas de 100 ejemplares en todo el país se han agotado y como se "tardaron" en agotarse no saben si traerán más o cuando los traerán.  Y tengo el libro 2 de "La profecía de las hermanas" pero no el libro 1 porque nunca lo trajeron. Es frustrante.

Así que si en tu país, los libros abundan, aprovecha! No sabés que bendición es poder entrar a una librería y encontrar el libro que buscás!!

Yesterday I finish "The hunger games" book and fake father, Jason, I owe you a written review. Soon.

But today I'll tell you what I don't like of buying books. Usually, I like to read stories that are composed of 2,3 or more books. Therefore, most of my books are part of a trilogy, saga or series.

And, as you can imagine, I like to have my books. ALL OF THEM, the ones that compose the stories.

And what is my greates furstration? That in my country, because of the lack of a reading habit, number of copies are from very little to none. And worst for me that enjoy reading books written in english.

So yesterday that I finished book 1 from "The hunger games", but I can't start on book 2 because I don't have book 2 because sure enough no more than a 100 copies were brought to the country and all copies here are sold out. SO, they don't know if they'll bring more copies and if they do, when they will. And I have book 2 from ·The profecy of the sisters" because they never brought book 1 and probably won't. Frustrating.

So if in your country, books are easy to be found, go and get them! You don't know what a blessing it is to go inside a library and actually easily find easily the book you are looking for!!

Los juegos del hambre/The Hunger games

Para los que no saben, un libro. Para los que no les gusta leer, por supuesto que viene una película. Acá , su corto.

En serio que es una historia que, como era de esperarse, entre más leo más quiero ver la pelìcula. Aunque libro salió hace un poco de tiempo atrás, y no sé que me había detenido para leerlos, es muy bueno. La cantidad perfecta de páginas. Buenos personajes. Ni muy largo, ni muy corto. Muy buena trama, que en lo personal, me gusta mucho. Muestra una heroína diferente y un poco más realista en cuanto a sentimientos y emociones.

Por lo que en el corto veo, la película promete estar muy apega al libro.

A los que le gusta leer, si no lo han leído se los recomiendo antes que salga la película,; y a los que no les gusta leer, este podría ser un buen libro para empezar. Toma el reto!! XO

For those of you who don't know(not likely), is a book. For those of you who don't like to read, of course there will be a movie. Here, the trailer.

It is, really, a story that as you can expect I'm reading and I just can't get enough, I can't wait to see the movie. And even though the book hit stand a while ago. and I don't know what stopped me to read the before, is quite good. The perfect number of pages. Great characters, Not too long, not too short. Exellent plot, which for my taste, is good. Show as a different heroin with feelings and emotions much more real and credible than what prbably we are used to.

For what I see on the trailer, the movie promise to be very close to what the book tells.

If you like to read and you haven't read it, I recommend you to do it; and if you don't like to read this could be an exellent book to begin with. Take the dare!! XO

Los primeros tres del año/The first three of my year

Libros!Libros!Libros!LIBROS!!!

El mejor regalo que alguien me puede dar: UN LIBRO! Amo leer y amo los libros, lo cual es curioso porque en realidad yo solía odiar leer. Era lo peor que me podían hacer cuando yo estaba en el colegio: dejar un libro que leer.

Lo curioso de todo es saber lo que llevó a amar la lectura, esta va para todo aquel que dice que el amor a la lectura es algo que se trae, lo cual es la mentira más grande del mundo... bueno, no la más grande pero si una grande.

Un día me llamó la atención como (y esto es un hecho!) la gente que lee, cualquier cosa, realmente sabe mucho sobre cualquier cosa. Su vocabulario había mejorado, pues al leer se aprenden MUCHAS palabras nuevas. Su escritura, igual. Pero sobre todo, el hecho que hablaban con seguridad, porque realmente han leído. Entonces, para aquellos que me conocen, saben que algún día y Dios quiera tengo hijos, quiero poder inculcarles ese hábito tan importante como el que es leer. Quiero poder explicarles lo que leen y poder leerles cosas desde muy pequeños, por lo tanto, no puedo inculcar en alguien algo que yo no práctico. Así que escogí una trama que me gustaba, compré el libró, empecé, costo, lo leí, me encantó. No paro desde entonces.

Por lo tanto, mi meta de este año: Sobrepasar los 32 libros que leí el año pasado. Para eso, vamos por los primeros tres: HADES de Alexandra Adornetto, The Hunger Games de Suzanne Collins y The prophecy of the sisters:The guardian of the gate de Michelle Zink.

Aunque el primero fue regalo de navidad 2011 de mis tíos y primos, lo terminé creo que el 1º de enero de este año, por lo tanto, cuenta como este año. 

Me voy a una nueva aventura literaria. Leer es de lo mejor para salir de lo cotidiano. Amo mis libros. Amo leer. Si quieres amar leer también, acepta el reto. Leer es algo que uno hace porque uno quiere. Un hábito que te formas con disciplina, no algo con lo que se nace.  Acepta el reto. Conozco un par que lo tomaron y han tenido éxito!

Inicio mi nueva aventura. Les cuento como me va.Deséenme suerte! XO

PS: Hecho divertido: En mi país, no sé si en toda latinoamerica, el leer es un hábito poco arraigado, casi no se inculca desde pequeños, mucho menos de grandes. Para prueba de eso, algo tan trivial como el periodico está mas lleno de fotografías que de historia en sí. Sólo en este blog, es visto -y estoy segura de eso- casi por mis amigos, pues les gusta leer y me apoyan incondicionalmente en mis locuras, y algún otro que lo ha visto en Twitter o en Facebook, así mismo la mayoría de visitantes son de países cuyo lengua materna es el inglés o alguna otra lengua, menos el español.  No digo que ese sea el caso, y tampoco le atribuyo a mi blog la suficiente perfección como para llamar la atención, pero al menos en mi caso, lo que yo he vivído, el leer definitivamente es un hábito no muy prácticado.

Books!Books!Books!BOOKS!!!

The best gift someone can give me: A BOOK! I love reading and I love books, which is funny because I used to hate reading: It was the worst thing ever when I was in school and a teacher left as assignment to read a book.

Curious of this if what drove me to love reading, this goes to all of you who says reading is something you are born with, which is probably one of the biggest lies ever....ok, no the biggest one, but a big one.

One day it got my attention how (and this is a fact!) people that read anything, knows pretty much anything, for reals. Their vocabulary improves because they have learned so MANY new words. Their writing improves as well. But, overall, the fact that people that read, speaks wiyh such self confidence, because they have really read. So, for all of you who know me, you all know how much  I would like to have children of my own- if God allows- someday, and I want to be able to teach them and grow on them such a nice, important habit. I want to be able of read things to them and explain to them that things since their early years. I can't grown in someone a habit if I do not practice it myself. So one day I chose a plot, bought the book, started with the reading, it was hard but I read it, I loved it. Haven't stop since. 

Therefore, my goal for this year: Read more than the 32 books I read last year. For that, I'll start with this three books: HADES by Alexandra Adornetto, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and The prophecy of the sisters: The guargian of the gate by Michelle Zink. (Hint: I love reading in english!)

Though The first one was a christmas gift from my family,  I finished it on january 1st this year, so it counts as a 2012 book in my personal library.

I'll go to start my new adventure. To read is the best way to stay away from routine. I love my books. I love reading. If you want to love reading, take the dare. Reading is something you do because you want to do it. A habit you grow on yourself with discipline, not something you are born with. Take the dare. I know a few that have taken it and had succeded.

I'm going to start my new journey. I'll tell how it goes soon. Wish me luck! XO

PS: Fun fact: In my country, I don't know if latin america, reading is a very poor habit, we do not practice it very much. People do not teach us to do it when we are little, less we'll be teach to do it when grown up. That's why news papers are so much full of pictures than the story itself. Just in my blog -And I'm sure of it- most of the readers from my country are my friends, and I know they do it because they like reading  and they support me in every crazy idea I have, other people must have seen it on Twitter or Facebook, likewise most of the readers from foreign countries have as primary language english or other language but spanish. I'm not saying this is the case for all countries, but at least what I've live, reading is something not practiced as often as it should.
